Alex Katsambas, who leads content and translation at leading luxury fashion marketplace Farfetch, shared his experience rolling out ModelFront automatic post-editing.

Farfetch receives more than 3000 new products a day, from hundreds of top luxury brands, and operates in more than 200 countries and territories. The Farfetch product catalog is accessible in 15 languages.

Alex's team was early to roll out [/quality-prediction], starting in 2022, before AI was cool. At LocWorld in Dublin a few months earlier, Farfetch shared its experience rolling out quality prediction.

Automatic post-editing – AI to generate edits – is accelerating human-quality translation, by growing the volume of segments approved by machine translation quality prediction. This talk will share concrete, practical experience with rolling out this new class of LLM, from gotchas to metrics, TMS integration and lifecycle.

Alex shared that Farfetch had achieved 5x speedup with ModelFront quality prediction and automatic post-editing. Alex was joined on stage by ModelFront technical co-founder and CEO Adam Bittlingmayer.

The the talk took place at LocWorld, the top translation industry event, held in Monterey, an iconic coastal town south of Silicon Valley and San Francisco.

Translation leaders from companies like Uber, eBay and Expedia joined the talk, which was moderated by Jonathan Turpin, who leads translation at Esri, the leading GIS software for mapping and spatial analytics.
